Shoreditch Madonna is an entirely human creation. It has flaws.
It is, in many ways, unfinished. It is raw. It is scarred. It is not
bloodless. It shivers and spits when you stare too close. It mocks my need
for human interaction. It preens like Cleopatra on her burnished throne.
And yet my relationship with this mysterious creature has been profound,
haunting, unavoidable.
She would want me to talk about the landscape of the hyperreal; how
we´re all traveling away from ourselves and from the essences of things.
She would want me to mention survival. She would want me to loiter on the
inadequacy of language. She would beg me to linger on the splendor of details.
She would smile and beckon and lock you and me in a windowless room and
leave us there until our fingers met in the dark.
